Here, we provide instructions our group uses to work with the supercomputers including basic navigation, package installation, data storage, and how to upload next-generation sequence data to the NCBI Sequence Read Archive. These instructions are meant to work with the infrastructure of the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute (MSI).
I. Getting Started with MSI
This guide describes how to log in and view files on MSI, basic terminal commands, and how to load and access software preloaded as MSI modules.
II. Installing Software using Python and R
This guide details available options and Chris's best practices for installing and managing software packages in python or R.
III. Managing Data on MSI
This guide describes how to check your group's data usage and options to reduce file storage and move files to second tier storage.
IV. Uploading Data to the SRA
This guide describes how to upload next-generation sequence data to the Sequence Read Archive at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (required for publication in peer-reviewed journals).
