M. Haneef Khan

Post-doctoral associate

I have attained my PhD from Gauhati University, Guwahati, INDIA in 2015 wherein I studied mycorrhizal-plant-fungal leaf pathogen tripartite interaction along with soil microbial community, relationship of AM fungi dependency and C: N: P stoichiometry of Capsicum sp. In 2016, I joined CSIR-NBRI, Lucknow, INDIA as a research associate to study the impact of novel PGPR (P solubilize) on plant fitness and ecology under high alkaline environment. In 2017, I got the opportunity to work with Prof. Joy M. Bergelson at University of Chicago as a post-doctoral scholar to perform molecular characterization of cultivable endophytic microbial (bacterial, fungal, oomycetes) community of wild Arabidopsis plants from Mid-western USA. I have joined Dr. Christopher Staley’s lab at University of Minnesota to primarily investigate the role of human microbiota in the progression of chronic diseases. In addition, I am excited to collaborate with other members in the Department of Surgery and Medical School to characterize the role of the microbiota in a variety of other conditions to improve therapeutic interventions and patient outcomes. My research interest includes: Microbial Ecology, Evolution, Meta-genomics, Community Structure and Function, Diversity.
